Soseki is that rarest of things in East London; a little hideaway where you can escape the bustle and enjoy good food in calm surroundings. Decorated as a Taisho-period tea-house, Soseki is fitted with 1920?s antiques imported from Tokyo. There are partitioned areas, and a small sushi bar with a drinks counter. The menu is in the hands of the chefs here: rather than list dishes to choose from, the chefs rely on the ingredients tat are available to them to create a traditional Japanese meal, according to the principles of Japanese cuisine. Much of the ingredients are locally-sourced, with Soseki receiving acclaim for their work encouraging British growers to grow Japanese ingredients. Three courses of your mystery-meal should cost an average of around £55 per person.
